One step closer to the new challenge Obnov dom

01. 06. 2026 Air

The renovation of family houses under the Obnov dom program continues. Parliament has approved legislative changes that will allow the redirection of 186 million euros from the Modernization Fund to the renovation of at least 16,000 family houses of households at risk of energy poverty.

The new call Obnov dom mini plus should be announced in the coming months. It is to follow up on the simplified support model for low-income households, which reduces the administrative burden and does not require the submission of energy certificates. Financing will be provided from the Modernization Fund outside the state budget. The costs of administrative support for the call will be covered by the Environmental Fund.

The continuation of the program is to bring not only energy savings and lower housing costs, but also a positive impact on air quality. Reducing the energy intensity of buildings leads to lower energy consumption for heating, which is also reflected in a decrease in emissions from households. Local heating with solid fuels is one of the significant sources of air pollution in many regions of Slovakia, especially dust particles and other pollutants that threaten health. Modernization can thus contribute to cleaner air and a healthier environment in cities and rural areas in the long term.

The continuation of the program could also positively contribute to the revival of the construction sector, support for supply companies and the creation of additional job opportunities for tradespeople.
