Something hangs in the Air: 10 Challenges for Better Air Quality

04. 09. 2025 Awareness

Following the successful campaigns “Spin Away Waste” and “Climate Yourself”, the Slovak Environmental Agency (SEA) is launching a new educational campaign in September called “Something hangs in the Air”, aimed at individuals, schools, and teachers. The campaign, focused on air protection, was developed in cooperation with the LIFE Populair team.

From September 2025 to June 2026, registered participants will be presented with 6 topics and 10 air quality challenges, gradually revealed on the first day of each month.

The goal of the new challenges is to reflect on what and where we breathe, and how we can influence it,” said campaign coordinator Veronika Páričková.

Anyone can join the campaign by registering through the online form on the campaign website: https://ewobox.sk/sazp/nieco-visi-vo-vzduchu

Individuals as well as school groups can participate. After completing the monthly challenge, participants enter their results in the form. Each participant will be entered into a monthly draw for a greenfluencer package. The more challenges completed, the higher the chance of winning in the final July draw at the end of the campaign.

The current September challenge is titled “Become a Clean Air Detective.”

Each participant can take part in each challenge only once (i.e., 10 times during the campaign) by completing the form that appears after clicking “Join the Challenge”. The form may require submitting information or attachments depending on the challenge, such as a photo, number, or text.

In addition to tangible prizes, participants will gain valuable knowledge about our environment, particularly the often-overlooked or invisible component - air - and its quality.

For teachers, there is an accompanying activity called “Teacher in Action”, offering ideas for educational activities across all school levels - kindergarten, primary, and secondary. Teachers can subscribe via email at vovzduchu@sazp.sk and explore clean air and environmental learning with their classes.

Slovakia has a long-standing issue with air quality, and improving it should be a collective effort. This can involve changing household heating habits, applying sustainable mobility principles, modernizing industrial activities, focusing on public health, and enhancing public spaces.

Don’t hesitate, join the “Something hangs in the Air” campaign!
